air con retro-fit (not climatronic)

Recommended Posts

this has probs been discussed before(tried search) and i know we`re headin for winter but what parts do u need to do this?i know the compressor costs about a million pounds brand new but i could source one from ebay or scrappy.

the first owner of my car got all the extras inc heated leather, but no air-con(doh)??in the summer it`s like a bloody sauna.i know ur gonna say not worth the hassle but it would be nice to have the car fully "speced-up" ;)

I've looked into this.

Getting hold of the parts second hand isn't the problem, it's the fitting - it's a bitch of a job. The entire front section (rad carrier) needs to be swapped and part of the bulkhead needs to be cut out and replaced with a different panel too. Obviously, this requires engine removal & some skilled welding work. Then the dash has to come off and the entire heating/ventilation assembly has to be replaced. In short, a nightmare.

The alternative is to get an aftermarket air-con system (e.g. Diavia) fitted. This costs well over
