Skoda has released the first images and technical details of the facelifted Skoda Rapid and Rapid Spaceback before the official revealing at the upcoming Geneva auto show. The visual enhancement start at the front where the headlights of both models now feature bi-xenon lights, while the daytime running lights uses LED technology. The front bumper has also been revised and features modified fog lights shine. At the rear, the C-shaped headlights can be had with a black tint or optional LED tech. The Rapid Spaceback now also features an extended rear window and several new 15- to 17-inch in size alloy wheel designs have been added.
The most important update has occurred under the hood, where both models take advantage of the new dynamic and efficient three-cylinder TSI engines. As part of the upgrade, a familiar turbocharged 1.0-liter gasoline engine is now available for the both Skoda Rapid models. The three-cylinder will be available in two power levels:70 kW (95 PS) and 81 kW (110 PS). The weaker version does 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11.0 seconds, while consuming 4.4 l/100 km and emitting 101 g/km of CO2, and boasts a respectable top speed of 184 km/h. Besides the the two 1.0 TSI, three other engines are available for the both models – the 92 kW (125 hp) 1.4-liter TSI ( top speed of 208 km/h, 0 – 100 km/h in 9,0 sec., consumption combined 4.8 l/100 km, CO2 113 g/km – Rapid; top speed of 205 km/h, 0 – 100 km/h in 8,9 sec., consumption combined 4.8 l/100 km, CO2 113 g/km -Rapid Spaceback);
the 66 kW (90 hp) 1.4-liter TDI (top speed of 185 km/h, 0 – 100 km/h in 11,7 sec., consumption combined 3,9 l/100 km, CO2 103 g/km – Rapid; top speed of 183 km/h, 0 – 100 km/h in 11,6 sec., consumption combined 3,9 l/100 km, CO2 103 g/km – Rapid Spaceback);
and the 85 kW (116 hp) 1.6 TDI (top speed of 201 km/h, 0 – 100 km/h in 10,0 sec., consumption combined 4,1 l/100 km, CO2 107 g/km – Rapid; top speed of 198 km/h, 0 – 100 km/h in 9,9 sec., consumption combined 4,1 l/100 km, CO2 107 g/km – Rapid Spaceback).

Inside the cabin, the Skoda Rapid and Rapid Spaceback feature WLAN hotspot, two extra USB sports mounted in the back, redesigned air nozzles, among others. Both models continue to feature a wide range of safety systems, including the electronic stabilization control ESC, a continual tyre-pressure monitoring and multi-collision brake, which, in the event of an accident, reduces the risk of multiple collisions by preventing the continuous rolling of the vehicle.
The upgraded models will be presented to the public for the first time at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show (7 – 19 March).
