The new car features revised styling changes as well as significant upgrades to multimedia capability, comfort and safety. The midsize sedan for model year 2018 comes with sportier and more elegant look, highlighted by lower grille openings and a new front bumper that complement the wider Subaru hexagonal grille. The C-shaped headlights now feature distinctive “Konoji” daytime LED running lights. Other highlights include high-contrast wheel designs, two new exterior colors, Magnetite Gray Metallic and Crimson Red Pearl, and new tailpipe design integrated into the lower fascia, which adds a more premium touch. Under the hood, Subaru carries over the same 175-hp 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder engine and the 256-hp 3.6-liter boxer six-cylinder carry over. Both engines come exclusively with the Lineartronic CVT with manual mode and paddle shift control switches. For 2018, Subaru retuned ECU to provide a more responsive and smoother acceleration. The 2.5i will be available in standard, Premium, and Sport trims, while Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring are standard in all trims. Inside, the Legacy debuts a new premium materials, all new steering wheel with a sportier look and feel and a redesigned center console with an available 8-inch display screen, which now features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. It also gets the latest version the brand’s Starlink Multimedia system with Bluetooth wireless capability, which now offers quicker performance, as well as eight additional available apps. For now, there’s no word on pricing or when the new Legacy will go on sale.
