Named the “Machstang”, the car has been designed by then 16 year-old teenager Tim Wallace. When his father saw the drawing, he decided to build his son’s dream. He invested around 2,600 hours and six figures worth of capital to build this retro beauty. The interior, suspension and powertrain has been either replaced, modified or massaged. An Art Morrison custom chassis was the starting point, making this a full frame-on-body car—as opposed to the stock unit construction with front sub-frame design.
Beneath the skin, the car features Supercharged 502 CI Chevrolet Ram Jet engine equipped with aluminum oval port heads, a forged-steel crankshaft, forged-aluminum pistons and custom exhaust headers. All of that is good for around 725-horsepower.

There’s also a 6-speed transmission and a Ford 9-inch Detroit Locker rear end as well as Mustang II front suspension and four-link coilover rear suspension in place of the original archaic leaf springs and rack-and-pinion steering. Gone in 60 Seconds Eleanor Silver paint and 20×12-inch rear wheels and 18×9.5-inch front wheels rounds up the exterior modifications.
Inside, the car features Sparco Italian leather racing seats, Momo leather wrapped steering wheel, Custom Auto Meter gauges, 5 point safety harness, custom leather dash and console, Hurst shifter, custom billet racing pedals and a 700-watt Alpine sound system.
Currently owned by Major League Baseball All-Star Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, this unique 1971 Mustang Mach I is going up for auction next month and can be yours for a sale price that has been estimated between $95,000 to $125,000.
