VR6OC News Bot 30
This is the first time that the Focus RS little mill has earned the prestigious 2017 Ward’s 10 Best Engines award For this year’s competition Ford offered up four solid new powertrains: the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 in Ford F-150, 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 in the Lincoln Continental, 2.3-liter turbocharged in Focus RS, Fusion Energi PHEV and 5.2-liter V-8 in the Shelby GT350 Mustang. All of them were in the game, but at the end Focus RS and its specially engineered engine has taken the prize. The high-output 2.3-liter EcoBoost powertrain churns out 350 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft, which comes courtesy of an all-new, low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger with a larger compressor wheel that delivers more airflow and power throughout the rev range. It sends the hot hatch from standstill to 0-62 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The RS also features four different drive modes, and the innovative Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring for class-leading cornering speed and unsurpassed driver enjoyment. The same powertrain is also available for the 2017 Ford Mustang where it delivers 310 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque. View the full article
