Although Volvo’s 90 Series cars are practically new on the market, the Swedish carmaker has announced several important updates, delivering new safety, powertrain and connectivity updates.volvo-90-series-01
The smartphone integration now besides the Apple CarPlay will include Android Auto functionality in Volvo’s large driver interface. The 90 series cars will also receive a clever Over-The-Air navigation update system, which ensures that the car always has the latest maps on-board.
Volvo will also introduce two new connected safety systems Slippery Road Alert and Hazard Light Alert in the XC90, S90 and V90. Slippery Road Alert anonymously collects road surface information from cars further ahead on the road and warning drivers approaching a slippery road section in advance. The second safety system Hazard Light Alert is particularly useful on blind corners and over the crest of hills in the road. It forewarns drivers of vehicles that have activated their hazard warning lights on the road ahead, providing the driver with enough time to slow down.

In addition to the new safety and connectivity features, Volvo has also enlarged its engine range with the addition of several new Drive-E powertrain variants. According to Volvo the new powertrains delivers an attractive balance of fuel economy and drivability. Volvo S90 equipped with the new D3 4-cylinder diesel engine, which now will be available with All-Wheel Drive, when coupled to a new manual 6-speed gearbox will deliver fuel economy of 4.3 l/100 km with emissions down to 114 g/km CO2.
