VR6OC News Bot 30 Posted November 1, 2016 Report Share Posted November 1, 2016 Mazda shows off its two styling MX-5 Miata concepts, the lighter, more ruthlessly efficient MX-5 Miata Speedster Evolution and the stealth-like MX-5 RF Kuro in in Sin City. First concept, the MX-5 Speedster Evolution is based on the MX-5 Speedster presented at the 2015 SEMA Show. Weighing just 2,080 lbs., the MX-5 Speedster is for 11-percent lighter compared to the a stock MX-5. Ultimately, Mazda managed to shave an additional 100 lbs. from the MX-5 Speedster-a total of 350 lbs., shave, which is stunning 15 percent versus the production MX-5. So the Speedster Evolution weighs only 1,980 lbs. Other highlights include White Ether paint, adjustable suspension from the MX-5 Global Cup racecar, and BFGoodrich g-Force Rival R1 grooved racing slick tires, sized 225/45R17, while Brembo front brakes has been swapped with the lighter rotors and calipers from the MX-5 Sport and Grand Touring models to further the weight reduction. The second vehicle on the Mazda stand is a new concept based on the 2017 MX-5 RF. Called MX-5 RF Kuro, the concept will be going on sale early next year and also adopts much of the MX-5 Global Cup technology but in a much more street-focused package. It shares its adjustable suspension and Brembo dual-piston front brake calipers with the MX-5 Global Cup race car. The concept comes painted Satin Black Metallic, a semi-matte black metallic color as well as OpenFlash Performance center exit exhaust and 17″ Global MX-5 Cup wheels shod in BFGoodrich Rival G force tires.
