Klaus revealed that more potent and more stylish versions of the Honda NSX will be launched over the coming years, and one of them could be the Type R version.
When questioned whether he’d like to see an NSX Type R in the near future, he commented: “I think everyone who loves cars wants to see a version that we say is pure red.
Klaus didn’t reveal too many details, but according to insiders from Acura there are several ways of boosting the NSX’s power. One of them is by upgrading the car’s current electric motors, with engineers believing that a larger battery pack could actually deliver significantly more power. The rumor is that NSX’s 3.5 liter twin-turbo V6 engine could reach over 600 hp and finish the 0-100 km/h sprint below 3 seconds.

Of course, a weight saving must be done too, so it’s believed that the NSX Type R would get a bunch of carbon-fiber exterior aerodynamic components, lightweight wheel rims as well as some carbon-fiber exterior replacement bits.
As a reminder, the current Acura NSX under the hood has a hybrid powertrain, which consist of a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 500 hp and three electric motors. Two electric motors are located at front and produce a total of 72 hp, while the third is positioned at the rear axle and generates 47 hp. Total combined power output is 573 hp and 476 pound-feet of torque.
