As was announced in May, the Czech carmaker has introduced a new high-tech, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine for its bestseller. Another novelty is Dynamic Chassis Control, which will be available for the versions with 110 kW (150 PS) and more.2017 Skoda Octavia-01
The three-cylinder petrol engine from the TSI family replaces the current 1.2-liter, four-cylinder unit. It has a displacement of 999 cm3 and produces 85 kW (115 PS) and provides 200 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 3,500 rpm. In combination with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox with two clutches, the TSI accelerates the Octavia hatchback from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.0 s and achieves a top speed of 202 km/h. When combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the sprint to 100 km/h is faster by 0.1 seconds, while the top speed stays the same 202 km/h.
The Skoda Octavia Combi is available with 7-speed DSG or a manual gearbox. Both models has a top speed of 200 km/h and accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 10.2 and 10.1 s respectively.
According to Skoda, the biggest improvement of the new three-cylinder TSI is the fuel consumption, which is 8 per cent lower than the previous 1.2-liter unit. The hatchback with 7-speed DSG burns only 4.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers and emits 105 g CO2/km (103 g CO2/km when combined with a manual gearbox). The Combi burns 4.6 l/100 km and 4.5 l/100 km with a DSG/manual gearbox, respectively.

Customers can also opt for a new aero package, which further increase efficiency, for the Active, Ambition and Style trim levels. The package includes a sport chassis which brings the body closer to the road and therefore reduces drag, active air flaps for better aerodynamics and a tailgate or roof spoiler for further improved air flow. All of that combined with low resistance tires drops the fuel consumption to 4.4 l/100 km and the CO2 emissions to 102 g/km in both the hatchback and the Combi with manual gearbox.
For the 2017 model year, the Czech carmaker is offering adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC). This option is available for all Octavia versions with engines of a power output starting from 150 hp (110 kW). The system allows the driver to adapt the steering and suspension depending on whether the Comfort, Normal and Sport mode has been selected.
