According to the aforementioned magazine, the Ford insiders have confirmed that the company is considering an even extreme Focus RS that could possibly wear the RS500 badge. Given that, the RS’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine is already operating close to its maximum, the RS500 would likely benefit from the weight saving (is expected the hardcore version to lose 100 kg (220 lbs)) and a new front bumper that would allow Ford engineers to add cooling capacity to accommodate additional power. RS500-render The fastest-accelerating hatchback in history could feature and some mechanical enhancements, including an electronic limited-slip differential for the front axle to improve handling and switching the standard six-speed manual gearbox with a dual-clutch unit. The same source says that The RS’ optional 19-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires may also come standard on the Focus RS500. Ford performance targets to break the 4.0 sec 0-100km/h barrier, and to surpass the main rivals facelifted Mercedes-AMG A45 which completes the sprint in 4.2 seconds and the Audi RS3 4.3 sec.
