VR6OC News Bot 30
Audi has sent its most powerful TT ever into the competitive field. The TT RS Coupe and Roadster have made their global debut at this year’s Beijing Motor Show. Slated for sales across Europe this fall, both the TT RS Coupe and Roadster leave the factory with a muscular front end, low-positioned spoiler, large air inlets, fixed rear wing and the most important of all the new 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder aluminum engine. It delivers 400 hp (294 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) torque between 1,700 and 5,850 rpm. That’s a 60 hp more than the power of the model that replaces. The power is sent to all four wheels via Quattro all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. As a result, the Coupe sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in just 3.7 seconds, and the Roadster in 3.9 seconds. Top speed of both models is limited to 250km/h (155 MPH), or max speed of 280 km/h (173.9 mph) upon request. Compared to the standard TT, RS version has a lowered suspension by 10 mm, while Audi offers the option of a specially tuned sports suspension with the Audi Magnetic Ride system and adaptive shock absorbers. Although the Coupe comes packed with way more stuff, thanks to the redesigned five-cylinder engine the car is 22 pounds (about 10 kg) lighter than the previous RS. Both models standard comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, with 20-inch wheels offered as an option. Stopping comes from massive, 370-mm (14.5-inch) disc brakes, but Audi also offers optional carbon-ceramic brakes. The overall weight of the new TT RS Roadster is 3,373 pounds (1530 kg), while cloth top only takes 10 seconds to retract and can be operated at speeds up to 31 mph. In addition, for the first time in a series-production Audi, Matrix OLED technology (organic light emitting diode) is used in the rear lights as an option. Interior boasts modest upgrades including a lightweight RS sport seats and a 12.3” Virtual Cockpit. The new TT RS models will be launched on the European market in fall 2016, with prices in Germany star at 66,400 euros for the Coupe, and 69,200 euros for the Roadster. North American customers will have to wait a little longer. View the full article
