The new-generation WRX and WRX STI were introduced in 2014 for the 2015 model year featuring a new wide-body sedan design with a significantly stiffer chassis, whereas the 2017 WRX continues in standard. The 2017 models will arrive this summer and features a number of minor changes including a new tricot headliner, which previously was only offered on premium trim and higher. Other highlights include newly standard automatic headlights on the base WRX STI and upgraded EyeSight system which now features Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure warning and Reverse Automatic Braking.
The 2017 WRX is powered by familiar 2.0-liter direct injection turbo BOXER engine that generates 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system, while a Sport Lineartronic transmission is offered as an option.

The WRX STI is powered by the legendary 2.5-liter turbocharged/intercooled BOXER engine that delivers 305-horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque and continue to offer exclusive performance features including Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control, Active Torque Vectoring and a Brembo brake system. The WRX STI will be exclusively available with a specially reinforced 6-speed manual transmission. Other equipment includes Starlink infotainment systems which are offered with a 6.2-inch displays as standard and a bigger 7.0-inch screen featuring multi-touch gesture controls as an option as well as an eight-way power driver’s seat, and leather trim with red stitching.
The 2017 models will arrive at Subaru retailers this summer – the WRX will be priced from $26,695, while the WRX STI at $35,195, which represents increases of just $100 and $500, respectively.
