Available to order in UK market now, the special edition features an aggressive body kit that includes a new bumper with high-gloss black air deflectors, revised side skirts, a sporty rear diffuser and a tailgate-mounted spoiler, which has been aerodynamically perfected in the wind tunnel. Standard comes with “Quaranta” forged 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/40 tires, while optionally can be ordered either a 19-inch “Brescia “ alloy wheels with 235/35 tires or street-approved semi-slick 235/35 R 19 tires on eight-inch wide “Pretoria” wheels. Inside, the model comes equipped with Alcantara and black cloth upholstery, red contrast stitching, a gear knob in golf ball design, black headliner. Other highlights include Alcantara-wrapped sport steering wheel, new Honeycomb 40″ trim, customized floor mats with red edging and exclusive stainless steel door sill plates with red GTI lettering. The heart of the GTI Clubsport Edition 40 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection engine that delivers 265 PS between 5,350 and 6,600 rpm. The engine also features an overboost function, which increases the engine power to 290 PS for up to 10 seconds. Under boost, max torque is 350 Nm. Power is channelled to the front wheels via either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed DSG. The 0-62 mph sprint is 6.3 seconds, regardless of which transmission is selected, while top speed is limited to 155 mph. Claimed CO2 emissions range between 158 g/km and 162 g/km depending on transmission choice and bodystyle, while combined fuel economy varies between 40.9 mpg and 40.4 mpg. Like the standard Golf GTI, the new Clubsport Edition 40 comes equipped with a sport chassis with 15 mm lower ride height as standard, MacPherson suspension, front differential lock, XDS+ vehicle dynamics function and progressive steering as well as DCC dynamic chassis control as an option. The model can be ordered with an optional black painted roof, which can be combined plenty body colours, including Carbon Grey Metallic, Tornado Red, Pure White, Reflex Silver, Urano Grey, Oryx White mother of pearl effect and Deep Black pearl effect.
