VR6OC News Bot 30
Chevrolet has unveiled the 2017 Camaro ZL1 Convertible at the 2016 New York Auto Show. The 2017 ZL1 Convertible has identical attributes with those of the ZL1 coupe, but of course with the option to remove the roof. The two models have comparable performance thanks to the Camaro’s modular and rigid body architecture which was designed at the outset to support a high-performance convertible. Power is provided by a familiar supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that packs 640 horsepower and 640 lb-ft (868 Nm). Customers have the choice to choose between an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission exclusively developed for this model and a six-speed manual. The 2017 ZL1 features flow-tie” grille, a heat extractor hood, a front splitter, wider front fenders, aggressive side skirts and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires. Other highlights include Recaro sport seats with red contrast stitching, a flat-bottom steering a suede-wrapped shifter and plenty ZL1 badges inside and outside. The car also comes standard with magnetorheological adaptive dampers, a limited slip differential, Performance Traction Management electronics with launch control and Brembo brakes with 15.4-inch front rotors. The Camaro ZL1 convertible will go on sale in early 2017, while the ZL1 coupe later this year. Chevrolet says pricing will be announced closer to the market launches.
