VR6OC News Bot 30
Japanese automaker has unveiled the 2017 Toyota 86 at the 2016 New York Auto Show. The Toyota 86 essentially is a facelifted and renamed version of the Scion FR-S. Compared with the former Scion FR-S, the Toyota 86 sports car features more aggressive styling with somewhat lower and wider stance as well as a larger center intake. The car received re-configured LED headlights, new front fender vents and a new front bumper. The rear of the car now features revised bumper and new LED taillights. The new “86” badging and restyled alloy wheels with twisted spoke design rounds up the changes. The interior has been largely carried from the outgoing FR-S, but features new “Grandlux” material with silver stitching, 86 logo on the center hub and a sporty steering wheel with integrated audio controls. Under the hood is upgraded 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine, which in the manual configuration now produces 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. The Toyota 86 also benefits from updated shock tuning and spring rates to provide a more enhanced control and agile performance. The 2017 Toyota 86 will go on sale this fall, while pricing and more information about the technical specifications will be available closer to launch.
