VR6OC News Bot 30 Posted March 24, 2016 Report Share Posted March 24, 2016 Subaru has unveiled the all-new 2017 Impreza in both Sedan and 5-Door body styles at the New York Auto Show.The fifth-generation Impreza debuts the Subaru Global Platform architecture, which has been designed to deliver enhanced agility, crash protection, ride comfort, and driving pleasure. As expected, the 2017 Impreza incorporates the lines of the concept shown in Tokyo and Los Angeles last year. The car retains the brand’s signature hexagonal grille, but the hawk-eye headlights on both ends are toned down, while the prominent wheel arches and flowing lines highlights the athletic stance. The all-new 2017 Impreza is 1.6 inches longer, 1.5 inches wider and rides on 1.0-in. stretched wheelbase compared to the last generation Impreza. The 0.4-inch lower height improves the aerodynamics with a lower coefficient of drag, while the larger dimensions enables a roomier cabin. The new Subaru Global Platform incorporates numerous types of high-strength steel that increases rigidity of the unitized body structure by over 70 percent, while strut front suspension combined with an independent double-wishbone rear suspension and a rear stabilizer bar installed directly to the body reduces body roll by 50 percent compared to the current car. Both 2017 Subaru Impreza Sedan and 5-Door comes with plenty of safety equipment, such as the latest EyeSight system encompassing automatic pre-collision braking, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection, steering responsive headlights, high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning. As standard, the all-new Impreza will be equipped with LED daytime running lights, front seat airbags, side curtain airbags, and a driver’s knee airbag. Under the hood, the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine gets direct fuel injection and other enhancements to boost the power output up from 148 to 152 hp. The highline trims will get a Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) with a seven-speed manual mode. Like the current model, Subaru will offer the 2017 Impreza in 2.0i base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trim lines. The 2.0i base features a 6.5-inch multimedia touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, power windows with auto up/down on both driver and passenger sides, tilt and telescoping steering column, tilt and telescoping steering column, multi-function display with fuel economy information and more. If you opt for Premium trim you get Subaru STARLINK Safety and Security features, automatic headlights, the All-Weather Package featuring heated front seats, windshield and mirrors, power moonroof and roof rails on the 5-Door. The Impreza Sport comes with a 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels, new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Active Torque Vectoring, Subaru STARLINK 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, a new harman/kardon premium audio system, keyless Access and Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and more. The high-end Limited comes with LED headlights and distinctive “Konoji” LED daytime running lights (DRL), standard 17-inch machine finished alloy wheels, 8-inch screen, leather interior, keyless access & push-button start, automatic climate control system, EyeSight safety system and new harman/kardon® premium audio is available in the Impreza for the first time.
