The 2017 GT-R has received the new slightly enlarged V-motion grille to provide better engine cooling and now has a matte chrome finish, an updated mesh pattern. There’s also a new front spoiler, front bumpers and side sills, as well as a reinforced hood to enhance stability during high-speed driving. At the rear the bumper features functional air vents on each side, while GT-R’s hallmark four-ring taillights are paired with new rear bodywork. Thanks to these exterior changes the car keeps its slippery 0.26 coefficient of drag. For better stability during high-speed driving the all-new Godzilla rides on new 20-inch 15-spoke forged aluminum wheels.
Inside, Nissan has completely overhauled the GT-R’s interior, where the dashboard and instrument panel are all-new and wrapped in a single, seamless piece of hand-selected Nappa leather. The front seats are more lighter with new side bolsters, which according to Nissan provide greater comfort and support on long drives. The number of switches on the dashboard has been reduced from 27 in the previous car to just 11 in the 2017 model. The 8″ touch screen display replaces the previous 7″ design and now features large icons on the display screen.

The power is provided by the famous and award-winning 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine, but now updated with parts from the old GT-R NISMO. Each unit handcrafted by its own Takumi technician now delivers 565 hp at 6800 rpm and 467 lb-ft of torque (increase of 20 hp and 4 lb-ft over the 2016 model) thanks to individual ignition-timing control of the cylinders and extra boost from the turbochargers. It’s mated to a 6- speed dual-clutch transmission, which is now thoroughly refined and features smoother shifts and less noise.
The 2017 GT-R will go on sale this summer and will likely cost at least as much as the current model, which starts just over $102,000.
