VR6OC News Bot 30
Fifty years after the famous Shelby GT350-H was introduced, Shelby American, Hertz and Ford will unveil his spiritual successor named the Shelby GT-H at this year’s New York Auto Show. Limited run of 140 units will be available for rent beginning Memorial Day weekend exclusively through the Hertz Adrenaline Collection at select airport locations in the continental United States. Based on the 2016 Mustang GT, the GT-H features aggressive body kit, but like the original car from 1966 it keeps the original’s classic look that combines a black exterior with gold strips. Shelby American equipped the car with a carbon fiber front splitter, a vented hood and a rear spoiler. Unique GT-H badges on the grille, trunk lid, headrests, sill plates, and floor mats hints that this Mustang is a special edition. It rides on matte black 19-inch aluminum wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires. Under the hood, the GT-H is powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine equipped with a Ford Performance cat-back exhaust system for a more meaner sound. To put all of the horsepower to the ground, the GT-H benefits from Ford Racing handling package that features a specially tuned dampers, lowering springs and sway bars. Ford says the 2006 GT-H will come with an automatic gearbox, while official output figures are yet unknown and most likely will be revealed in New York. 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H Mustang marks the 50th anniversary of the original Rent-A-Racer, and it’s also 10 years since the second iteration was introduced at the New York auto show in 2006. The Ford isn’t confirmed the daily rental rate yet, but if the price is right this is your chance to drive such a beast. View the full article
