2.9 inlet on 2.8??

hey, what is peoples opinion on running the 2.9 intake on a 2.8, ive read up else where and theres mixed reveiws on it?

From what ive read it depends weather your car is obd1 or 2 apparently obd2 2.8 is the same inlet manifold as the 2.9. I maybe wrong but I was tryin to find the differences between them a little while back. I'm sure there was a thread on e38 about it

I've got both in my garage and the 2.9 one has a bigger plenum, so that would lead me to assume better air flow??

As Matt fro UM has said many times just the manifold will do nothing, it needs all the other bits that go with it from the 2.9. I'm sure Matt said cams, manifold and other bits are needed really

I wasn't aware the 2.9 was any different to the 2.8 other than it begin slightly bigger??

The mechanical differences between a 2.8 and a real 2.9 are:

Throttle Body

Intake manifold

Cams

Exhaust manifold

Bore diameter

Compression.

OK.. I have a complete 2.9 cylinder head, throttle body, inlet manifold, would I benefit from fittin the said part to a 2.8 with a set of schrick cams??

you can only get a 2.9 manifold in obd1 form as the corrados were 2.9 and all obd1 the only 2.9 obd2 manifold u can get is off a vr syncro as they r 2.9 and obd2 from 96
