My VR6 euro spec distributor setup..

Recommended Posts

hello there, im very new to this site, but not new to the volkswagen scene and that.

anyways a little history about my car.

a buddy of mine found this imported 1992 VR6 Golf with a blown vr due to the lower chain snapping. I then decided to pick up the whole engine swap ( wiring , ecu, tranny, blown vr and a good VR engine block) . once i got the swap home i started taking the good block apart to have a look at the chains/guides.. and to my surprise... they needed to be done. so i ordered a timing chain kit from my local VW dealer for $230. once i installed the chains and guides and tensioners, i polished my intake manifold. painted my engine block and tranny and swapped the parts from the bad engine over to the good one.

i was currently fixing up a 96 golf at the time, with a shaved bay and some cool things, when i relized to scrape the car and find a better chassis. i then relized that there was a solid mk3 shell that my buddy had (the one the vr swap came out of) that he was willing to sell me so i jumped on it. to my surprise, he already sold the euro bumpers to my brother :-( , sold the euro hatch to another guy, and the euro rad support to someone else.. but i had the rest.. which i was cool about cause id rather have a solid shell.

i found some temp bumpers, and hatch and slapped them on. i then took my new fenders off my old shell and mounted them onto the good shell.. by now the car was basically drive able. over the past couple months of having the car i replaced the following:

- water pump ($100)

- euro spec distributor ($550)

- fuel pressure regulator ($100)

- spark plugs ($120)

- non AC, non power steering belt ($30)

- Rad ($200) but i broke it again fml

- gti tail lights ($80)

- NA fogs ($80)

- eibach lowering springs ($$$)

things to be done:

- get new injectors

- new intake boot

- new PCV vavle

- new ignition wires

- new thermostat, and housing

- new crack pipe

- new smoked turns and fogs

- a set of 16" wheels

- coilovers
