ashmk3 0
What on earth is the diaphragm looking thing on the side of the throttle body? It's not plugged in to anything and it appears it does nothing to me.
russj249 2
It's a kind of buffer for when you let the throttle off fast.. just so it doesn't snap back completely shut.. flick the throttle open and let it go and you'll see it hit that, then do the last few mm slowly. ashmk3 0
It's not that then, I'm trying to solve why it's idling at 2k well started it up again and it's now at 3k :/
russj249 2
Hmm.. have you checked for air leaks? Also have you checked the idle control valve to the right of the throttle body? Could be faulty and sticking open. Might be worth dropping it off and giving it a clean out.
ashmk3 0
I have the isv off and cleaned out. Now the flap inside it is it meant to be closed and then opens with live feed or is it always open and then closes with live feed? As mines open completely. I have just degunked the tb as well. As for air leaks the head has been rebuilt when I got the engine so new gasket there. And I have replaced all the inlet ones. It's just strange how it was running fine then I cracked the sump so I changed the sump replaced oil and now it idles high. It's not hunting either. Just stuck solid at 2-3k. russj249 2
Im pretty sure it should be closed as standard. Try blocking the pipe off and see what happens? Pinch the hose and see if revs come down, in theory, if you can completely stop the flow through that, it should die down or cut out.
ashmk3 0
Yh was meant to be closed. Nudged it with a screw driver and it pinged back into place. Put it all back together and it works thanks for your help
russj249 2
Ah good good.. glad its all sorted. Wonder why it did that though? Must have gone past the stopper or something. At least you know if it does it again, what the problem is, and know to get a new one
ashmk3 0
I have no idea, I think it was the rain. As I had the bonnet open whilst putting the new sump on. So I'm going with it shorted it out and made it shoot past it's stopper. :/
