rear caliper hand brake mechanism

Recommended Posts

When you fitted the caliper, did you wind the piston out as much as possible so its tight on the pads.. wind it out until its tight in the pads (obviously wind the cable off inside the car all the way before you do this) and then if you squeeze the lever hy hand, it should only just move before the handbrake operates. Also make note that it shouldn't be so tight you cannot turn the disc with the handbrake off.. taken me some time, but 9 out of 10 cars I do at work come out with a perfect feeling handbrake.. my golf will spin the rear wheels without any drag when the rear is jacked up, yet will still lock the wheels when driving on 1 click ;) perfectly adjusted lol
