josef123 0 Posted August 27, 2011 Report Share Posted August 27, 2011 i have a Golf VR6 (1995) and i need to take out the fuel pump (its not working ) . i took out the 2 fuel lines and now i have to open the cap (the rount cap on top ) . i want to try to open it by myself without any special VW tools . My mechanic from the VW garage told me he has a special tool but he cant give it to me so i will use it at home .thanksadi Link to post Share on other sites
russj249 2 Posted August 27, 2011 Report Share Posted August 27, 2011 clean all the dirt from around the area. then simply but carefully tap the locking ring around anti clockwise with a blunt ish chisel. it'll take some tapping round but no special tools needed. once you're inside the tank, reach inside and the pump it attached to the tank, give it a good twist anti clockwise and it'll come off the mounts.
