Car Cutting out - Factory immobilizer ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Hope you can help with this really frustrating issue i am having and i am almost 70% sure its the factory immobalizer now

I have done the following

- Cleaned ISV

- New fuel filter

- New Blue temp sensor

- New battery

cleaned ignition coil

I have recently had a new alarm fitted, reason this was fitted because i thought it was an issue with the alarm.

- Car was doing this before i had a new alarm fitted.

- Fitted a new one hoping it was at fault and the car is still doing it.

The issue is i got to start my car and its cuts out. The engine goes to crank and then nothing. I will try after a few attempts and then it will fire up like nothings happened.

Its 50/50 i could get into my car one morning and start it up and it starts fine first turn of the key and others it takes around 4-5 attempts.

I have put the car on VAGcom and get the following code.

Controller 021 906 258 co

Coding: PMC 1HS

17978- Engine start blocked by immobiliser

P1570-35-10 Intermittent

When it cuts out i put the key into position one and it chirps so this leads me to believe its immobilisers related.

When it starts it starts fine put key into position 1 and no chirps.

Any ideas guys, or anyone i could take it to I am located in Milton Keynes

Any other issues you guys had like this i am thinking of de immobilizing ECU,

When it starts it runs absolutelySkrU0tKz_xI[ fine

Many thanks

The 1st 2 times look and sound like the factory immobilizer in the ECU.

The fact that the fault code appears in the ECU is pretty conclusive.

I would guess at you have a intermittent fault somewhere along the line.

If you have an after market alarm/immobilizer, having the factory one removed from the ECU wont cause any security issues.

The third time I am putting my foot on the throttle and it's fine, so my guess is that the factory immob is kicking in blocking the fuel pump and starter ect.

I thought about it a lot and it has to

Be the ecu immob playing up.

I don't want to spent money and just go ahead and deimmobalise the ecu without it being looked at. But I can't think what else it can be.

Thank you united motorsport for your reply
