Complete downpipe back , great work by the guys at powerspeed as usual and improved spool by about 600 rpm Finally made a to do list for the car before the track day and just as I have ive run into a slight problem.. Spot the problem Not sure if im going to be able to get it ready for the track day. Just hope the engine has not munched too many metal filings.
AJmk2 2
Update to this !I did the Bedford track day final and loved it. Had a great time and was good to see so many other VAG cars on track and also did a great job and showing all of my cars problems. -Brake fluid boiling -General lack of handling-Water spraying as feeder tank hose moved -Oil temp at 130 -Brake vacuum pipe melting on way back -Clutch cable snapped -Boost leak so only 4psi on the dayOverall a great day though haha. Was great to see the speed of some of the ABF powered cars and really hit home how much my car has neglected handling and braking. Hopefully soon to be fixed.Since then ive not managed to fix my clutch problem. So its time for a clean up and a rewire of all my problems that have gathered up over the past 2 years of ownership. Engine and box is out so far and parts starting to be cleaned. Wiring is going to all be moved so is not above turbo , including brake lines and vacume pipe ect.Hopefully will have something solid at the end of this. Pipes and wires to be moved The very limited edition black 02A Now silver again And new parts to fit and Ferrado brake pads , Motul fluid , mocal oil cooler , new pipework ect Wont be show and shine winning but hopefully reliable enough to be my daily and hit the track again. legvw 0
Did you buy a new turbo or just replace the shaft? Can't understand why it did that?

AJmk2 2
Next up was sorting the downpipe side of things. Ive always run external wastegate which I love as my exhaust is very quiet and then loud when on it but ive decided that I dont want the worry of failing any noise regs if I ever go for higher boost. So time to make the pipes meet. Turbo Working out where the pipe will meet marking roughly where it will meet Test fitting starting 600 years of file work later Left downpipe side on and sprayed inside to give me the area that needed drilling and filing outMatched Final test fit before tac weld Finally all welded up Also painted radiator cover and engine mountIve also modified slam panel and intercooler is now matt black. Hoping to have it all back together and working for GTI spring fest
legvw 0
Mate, you want to protect the turbo oil return from that exhaust else you'll have a bit of a fire! Looks good though, i know what you mean about the noise, its ok, but after a while can get on ya tits!
AJmk2 2
Haha yea I know it looks very close there but when in the car the oil line is tied back far away. Also all heat wrapped now. I do miss the sound of the open wastegate but being able to turn up at track days and not worry is well worth it.
