Key Question

I need to get a key cut , have ordered a blank from ebay but do i need to get it coded after its been cut , opened up my old one theres nothing in there apart from a little black bar see pic , is this the transponder ?

Yes but you need a transponder in each key you use you cant use a key without the transponder in it.

There is a work around which involves having the transponder fitted somewhere inside the steering column but its a risky option.

how do i get the transponder out as the new key i have ordered doesnt have one ?

You need to cut around it mate carefully as it will be glued in, some come out easy others are a pain in the arse. Basically trial and error but dont cut the transponder at all it is made from carbon and will break.....if it does your f***ed!! Once out drop it into the new key.

Whats wrong with the key anyway as it looks fine??

I shut it in a door , tried to straighten it and its gone straight with a slight twist plus very old and thin through wear, would rather not take any chances a new blank was only £4,

The guy at the local locksmiths took my transponder out for me as he had done a few before.....worth asking one if you know any.....not the guy at your local Timpsons tho lol!!
