Recommended Posts

Im still haveing headaches with my tracking(thread was up previously)

Iv been advised of places to go, but im having noooo luck.

last 2 places i tried:..

Rang ETB. Informed the guy on the end the line car was mk3 golf sat low on coilies and i need camber and tracking done. His reply....

ETB guy: the camber is adjustable yeah?

me: (my first thought, he's not familiar with the mk3 platform) yes its adjustable

ETB guy:is the camber adjustable at the top of the suspension?

me:top!!?

ETB guy: yes the top ...as in the top mount...is adjustment done there?

me:(now thinking right this monkey aint touching her) errrr! no fella, its adjustable where the hub attaches to the suspension leg. Two bolts with the top one being a slightly elongated hole to adjust the camber!!....anyway what price

ETB monkey: camber and tracking 120

me: lol(i didnt actually say lol i just laughed out load as it suggests) ok mate have a good day!!

Then A&A...

me: need tracking and camber done on a mk3 golf on coilovers

A&A: we dont do cambers in the afternoon

me: err ok, just the morning right. Saturdays?

A&A: we dont do cambers on a sat. Best coming monday morning

me: price

A&A: 85

Me: thanks see ya

This is becoming a problem!!

Next of to see a guy, Antony aka Buddah... he looked at the car and said man...."your toe is so far in at the front i'd say 25 mm off straight! and about 3 degree negative camber.

He got an old school iron bar he used to use for measurin tracking and a measuring tape. Low and behold 27mm toeing in. Put a camber level on 2.5 degree onside and 3 degree the other. He's bringing me in camber intraments so i can do it next week.....fingers crossed. And plan is to chop the end the steering rod ends a few mls to bring back of wheels in to sort tracking. He's a guru, lol He sets rally cars up...i took the oppertunity to look around the evo rally car in the garage.....serious kit awwsome!!!

Anyway, im obv not the only person to be low on coilies, why is this a problem for me :(

Had a thought, as ive lowerd the car its obv lowered the angle of steering rods pushing the rear of the wheels out causing positive toe(front wheels pointing in) if i raised the engine (may involve notching chassis in turn taking the sump away from bumps...good thing, possibly making it possible to go lower ;) ha ha) will this raise the angle of the rods again pulling the rear of the front wheels more into line to aid tracking??? need to know before i decide to chop 10mm or so of the end of the rods!?!?!?

Im very sad boys and girls as 2 toyo proxes shot to pieces now and still have a prob which will do the same.

i got a man that was a works rally suspension mechanic and now has his own garage in thirsk to do mine too, the results were phenomenal, like hed fastened the car down to the road. hope you get just as good results.

pretty sure the steering is subframe mounted so moving the engine would have no effect on this

Personally I would not chop anything off until a full laser alignment check had been carried out with a print out showing exact angles. Search the internet for somewhere like ProTyre let's face it even if you have to drive a few mile for peace of mind its cheaper than 2 tyres and new steering rod ends.

Well ive had one guy adjust it and then say he cant do it, there is no more adjustment left. So stumped. Does everyone have this problem!!??? Ive already purchased 2 new tyre's but cant fit them till this is sorted....not sure how much i can handle :S
