b-a 0
Just wanted to no can u get away with fitting a supercharger and not fitting a chip or getting it mapped ???? As don't want to lay out £400 for a map or how ever Much it costs lol , thanks
spindat45 0
You can fit it but it will run like crap as the ECU won't be supplying the engine with the correct amount of fuel at the right time i.e. when you hit boost and need it most. Especially if you change injectors or cams. It's well worth getting all of your other mods done (cams, injectors, exhaust etc) and saving up for a remap imo.Kevin
Rustyman 0
Custom code do a deal where you get it mapped at stage 1 ... when you need to get it mapped again because you've added cams or turbo/charger then you get 40% of the stage 2 re map and same again for a stage 3 map ... Makes more £££ sense and repeat business to get a deal like this ..
b-a 0
I didn't think I needed to do cams and injectors as I'm only goin to be running a 6psi pully on a z engineering the exhaust is all done 6 branch sports cat and cat back so I would be looking for 260-270 ish bhp
spindat45 0
You're quite right, you don't need cams or injectors. It's just worth considering if you decide to add them at a later date you would need to get it mapped to suit. I didn't change cams or injectors on mine and got the stated 250bhp with some belt slip due to it needing to be replaced. Btw I'm running a ZR1 charger, also with a 6psi pulley.Kevin
b-a 0
I shouldn't suffer with belt slip as I've got zr2 toothed belts so did u get urs maped or is it running on standard ecu ?
Ben Seabrook 4
no you cant run it properly without a map mate - I was advised not to go over 3500 revs until the map was done and even with the toothed belts you can get slip as they need to be setup very carefully too tight and you will just rip them to shreds too lose and slip takes a couple of goes to get it right
b-a 0
Ok thanks mate notited I do have a chip that came with the charger so I guess it just needs to be soldered in , is it just trial and error with the belts or is their a set tension like cam belts ? Ben Seabrook 4
yeah you can do that but personally after speaking to Vince I would always say you are better off getting it mapped to your car - that chip may enable you to run it for a while but I wouldnt be giving it beans until it was properly chipped/mapped.Well from memory tighten it until there is no slack in the belt and then release it off just slightly and that should be right
b-a 0
Ok I reckon I will end up doin that were is the best place for gettin a map done and what sort off prices will I have to pay ??
Ben Seabrook 4
for me mate I would always take it to Vince at Stealth racing - cant remember exactly but I think its around the £300 mark but worth every penny had my old one mapped somewhere else and even though both were roughly the same bhp the car Vince mapped is so much more drivable and responsive
b-a 0
Ok were abouts is stealth racing do they have a web site and all that stuff ? Or a link on here ,

You're most likely to get belt slip from the main belt which is the long one one which goes round crank, power steeering etc. It does take a bit of time to get the tension right and can be a little fiddly. I had mine mapped in Germany this time last year at SLS Tuning.Like Ben I'd also recommend Stealth for you remap. Kevin
