HELP (door wont open......MK2 Golf)

hi

i done the mod that i have done to all my past mk2's the other day which was to modify a rear door handle to de-lock the front door.

yesterday i caught some shuffling a+sehole trying to get into it but obviously he ran and left my car.

Now i have a problem, he has pulled the lever on the handle back so hard that it has stuck and wont return to the normal position, the door wont open using the inside lever either

now i dont know what to do, i cant take the door handle off coz the door needs to be open for that, i cant take the door card off coz i need the door open for that too.

I'm stuck and don't know what to do, can anyone help me please

Can you not peel back the door card on the top corner above the lock to get into the mechanism in the door?
