vr6matty 0 Posted July 30, 2010 Report Share Posted July 30, 2010 hi guys im new hear but have recently brought the car i allways wanted the golf vr6 thing is i brought it cheap due to an idle problem!!the problem is when i first start it it wont idle but if i drive it and cane it for 3-400yards it idles but badly then after a mile or so its perfect. any ideas what this is my guess was the idle control valve but not sure.didnt want to start changing parts out before asking the exsperts.its a early 1992 j plate oif that helpsthanx in advance matt. Ben Seabrook 4 Posted July 30, 2010 Report Share Posted July 30, 2010 its a silver cyclinder just to the right of the throttle body mate I think there is a guide but that part of the site is only open to premium members - but basically just hold the butterfly valve at the bottom open gently with a screwdriver and then spray lots of carb cleaner into it Link to post Share on other sites
