piston bully 0 Posted July 15, 2010 Report Share Posted July 15, 2010 hi there iv been trying to fit my starter motor to my vr6 2.8 mk3 golf and i cant get the main bolt through the top starter hole and through engine mount jst spins on its self. is there a certin way to jack the car or the engine so the bolt will go through. vr6stormt 0 Posted July 16, 2010 Report Share Posted July 16, 2010 hi mate you shouldn`t need to jack the engine to replace the starter have you checked all the gear box to engine bolts or are they all tight it should go back in unless you have tightened the others up first if so try putting that one in first then the others? This could have moved, so it may require you to jack/lower the engine and loosen the other bolts that bolt through the bracket, then trying to get the top starter bolt in.
