vr6 cat & milltek problems

firstly, is this a genuine vr6 cat?

reason i ask is I can hear slight blowing and have worked out that its coming from a small hole. you can see it on the left. its not a blown hole its machined and about 8mm. anyone know what this is for? seem a little strange to have a hole in a cat like this

Yes its original, and i think the hole was to test if the cat was doing its job, a test hole, but no real need for it. Get someone to weld it up!
