my recon engine ..soon to be fitted!

Recommended Posts

Hi

here are some pics of my new recon OBD1 engine ive just bought to put in my 1998 highline

Came out of a Mk3 with 71k miles on the clock and was removed due to failing its MOT on excessive chassis rust only.

Last year the Engine had a rebuild, and has had various gaskets, a New reconditioned head with new valves set, seated, skimmed and crack tested etc. new piston rings, new big end bearings with arp bolts, Chain & tentioner had also been replaced along with a new water pump. Since then its been running in the car and had another oil change as part of 'running in process'. The engine was removed as a Excellent Runner without any rattle, knocks, smoke etc,It came complete with the air conditioning pump and alternator, all the pipes, plastic covers (one is cracked), exhaust manifold, inlet, engine harness and coil pack, power steering pump etc etc.

my old AAA engine will be for sale in the next few weeks ...with the OBD1 manifold etc from the donor engine.after i've swapped over my OBD2 manifold/stuff onto it....

it's high mileage at 154,000 but runs very well, regularly serviced and i'm only the fourth owner, of the car and this was the original engine, no smoking but some chain rattle, hydraulic lifter rattle till warm and the oil cooler needs doing..oil in expansion tank. theres also just a touch of mayonaise in the oil on and off, so i guess head gasket is starting to go, but it has not overheated and runs at normal temperature.

wont want big money...anyone interested?

my new engine...
