warby 0
As the vr is half dead im between an r32 motor and an s3 lump, any one know how much difficulty am i going to have with an s3 motor? Im aware this is somewhat controversial but i want a more tunable and powerful 4mo, after all next year ill be wanting to chase and try to keep up with my mates in their RB26 powered skyline gts-t, RB25 s14a and 400bhp s14 but on a relatively tight budget, bearing in mind ill be doing the work to allow max parts cash:) I know getting jap power gains are not easy or cheap with a dub but....Your inputs / recommendations are muchos welcome
legvw 0
You'll need a 4 pot gearbox for starters if you go s3 lump.
warby 0
Ok, i gather thats the s3 box on the list then?Ta
bungy 2
Surely 2.8 lumps are dirt cheap and going the turbo route will give you all the power you need. 12v lump and 400 bhp!
AJmk2 2
12v and turbo or R32 and rotrex. The 1.8T is quite a strong motor but i think it needs stronger rods around the 350hp mark ,so if you decide to build the motor then probably cheaper for 12v with headgasket spacer and turbo. craggsy 91
Id prefer the 6 cylinder 12v/24v route over the 4 pot route myself. As has been said wood need to change internals prior to 400bhp, v6 doesn't need to but can do. Mines running very close to 500 bhp on stock internals
warby 0
Hmmm many things to think of, maybe an r32 to start with would be easier then F/I?
xyber 1
R32. BAM codes just attract scene tax, plus 4 bangers sound weak. R32 on throttle bodies and Nitrous? Bit different and would sound evil
craggsy 91
BFH engine starts you with 240bhp
warby 0
Think this has made my mind up, r32 ftw! Probably rotrex it then one day...Bloke that lives down the road from me has mk5 r32 on full milltek system, muchos trouser tent:-d
warby 0
Craggsy, what boost is your mighty R running on stock internals? Had to take some bits off the old girl today cos me sister broke her mk4 derv 150 and i now have the bug to get her done, just pondering turbo options aswell:)
