Gadget-Master 2
Hi Guys,Fitted some new alloys which required a minimum spacer of 10mm on front. When fitted I used extended bolts which had a total length of 40mm thread. I believe standard thread is 26mm long. Anyways, driving along on Friday with the window down, took a gentle left bend when a horrible screeching noise started from (sounds like in the cab) front & rear wheels. When I started it continued then stopped. Carried on driving over small imperfections in the road it would come back then go.This has really got me puzzled as new brake pads and discs fitted over 1000k miles ago, so they are bedded in nicely with no squeals, new coilovers a few weeks ago, no problems.Drove VR on Saturday, having same problems so took to local car wash and made sure brake area was given attention with jet wash; screeching still there!!!I got thinking about the tread length and the possibility that they maybe too long and are catching the dust plates behind the discs. I added another 3mm spacers all round making 13mm spaces on each hub. seems to have worked a bit, however the screeching noise is there but not as often. I still have a 1mm excess.Has anybody had a similar problem; if so was it the excess bolt after spacers causing the problem noise? Many thanks,
