DreadedDev 0
Whilst my car was up on the ramps i thought I'd look into the knocking noise I've been getting from the nearside front wheel, and noticed I can move the drive shaft on that side about 2/3mm each way, which is what i think is causing the knocking noise. Is this play normal, and if not what is the likely cause...... and what's the cheapest but safe way of fixing it? Thanks as always...Ian
DreadedDev 0
anyone had this?? Did a search on the net and there seems to be lots of people getting this on Fiats... but nothing conclusive.... could it be something simple like a borken split pin securing the CV joint? or is it more likely the CV joint itself? any thoughts? DreadedDev 0
Wow cool!! I had visions of flying driveshafts whilst cornering at 90mph and me ending up on my roof in a field..... so does yours also make a knocking sound from the same wheel when dirivng along? and also when you move it (just with your hand) does it make that clonking sound? I noticed the gator is not tight to the driveshaft so it could be it's just lost all of it's grease....
MarkGolf 6
Funny you say that, I do have a knock when I pull away.. If i go forward, i hear a knock, it i stop then go back I hear a knock, I can't track it! Just when i pull away, just 1 knock..everything is tight and it's driving me mad! MarkGolf 6
Ah, no, no clonking, just the noise of it not being allowed to move anymore, nothing unusual at all.. Do you have any play in your wheels? A friends mk3 Gti had a knocking noise once which turned out to be a loose centre nut (centre of brake disc)
