hi i have just been and test driven a p reg vr6 with 106 on the clock , the garage said it has been stored in a barn for 5 years, it was in reasonable condition , a bit of water in the boot , but the engine had lots of white corrosion on the engine cover and alternator would this be down to salt. also the drive shafts looked a bit oily (but no puddle where i left it) the oil cap was a bit milky but the water was clean so probably just sort test drives thanks for your views cheers j

Hiya,

I'd say the white corrosion will be just cosmestic. I've stopped trying to keep mine looking good ;-) The VR tends to be quite a 'wet engine' and the mayo can build up on the cap if unused or only used for short trips. Did you check the oil on the dipstick?

Might be worth have a good look at the CV boots in case they've perished
