RAPgolfvr6182 2
i did a little test n found that i produced more power on 99 octane than i did on bp ultimate so thats why i went with tesco 99 i made another 4bhp with 99 octane than on bp on the same rolling road a week after i went to it.That's the kind of answer I'm looking for. I think 4 bhp is quite a big difference between 99 or 98 octane fuel. You must lose quite a lot of power if you run it on 95 octane. i can feel the difference on 99 octane the accerlationis more aggressive pulls alot harder, its no good just running it say once a a month on it you wont notice the difference u need to run it for weeks then u notice if you go bck to 95 n i get better mpg on 99 than on
Nex 17
Well l tried running my 4mo on 99 for a few weeks and with octane additives for another few weeks and l have now gone back to just using 95 as 99 (additive or not) didn’t seem to make it run any better, didn’t pull harder, run cleaner or smoother and just cost me more lol but l think it would be a different story if you run a turbo or charger. soul-2-soul 3
Shell V Power all the time for me with Tesco's Super being the only other fuel I will put in it from time to time. Both my VR & 16v seem to pull & run better with the higher octane fuel. V Power is £1.23 per litre near me at the moment - good job i do not do that many miles per year

mcmark 0
Shell Optimax everytime apart from when Gav gets impatient ;-)Lol you are funny Helen' date=' anyway that was Mark you should of heard the things he was saying[/quote']I didn't say nuffin! (that's my story 'n I'm stickin to it)I think the Shell stuff has more engine-cleaner-type additives than the Tesco fuel. I've noticed smoother running, especially on older cars with Shell. However I think if you drive your car properly (ie warm up and use all the rev range from time to time) it'll make very little difference which you use.
