Moochalargo 0 Posted December 26, 2009 Report Share Posted December 26, 2009 Hi every one i hope you all ahd a great xmas and that santa was good to you all!I drove my friends mk3 gti today and there is a really bad vibration that gets wors with speed! cant put my finger on the fault ?My first query to her when she told me about it origanally was (well thats the wheels they need to be ballanced8-)) so she did this and still complained so getting impatient i said tell the garage to REballance!!!!so she did and got tracking looked at to boot. i phoned her to say told you so and she told me its still there??? so i said your imagining things it cant be!! She did say the garage said the passenger side top mount is a bit soft and could be the problem!!Well i drove it today and its just like an out of ballance wheel but u cant drive through the wobble it just gets worse the faster you drive to the point where the windows rattle!!!???:-*Could this be a top mount issue?Or is there another fault somewhere else? (The car had a new clutch about 2 months ago could there be a related issue there? Link to post Share on other sites

With the wheel still on jack up and see if it wabbles/moves etc/ (all directions) Listen to the wheel as it turns (rotates) does it rub at a specific point??Swap the wheel and see if it still happens..Whilst you have the wheel of wiggle and pull on everything.. Anything that coems to the wheel/driveshafts/susspension/brakes...These simple steps should help you follow through to something..Hope ot helps.. Link to post Share on other sites
