crackers 0
Guys,Is the ECU the type of thing a semi-competent techy can fit him/herself?Gonna get myself a Haynes unless there is a better, specific VR6 manual.cheersCrackers
thegoth 5
Hi Phil,Does that mean you've sourced one? They are easy for any one to fix. Hardest part is getting to it. It hides below the (UK) passanger side scuttle panel at the bottom of the windscreen. The ECU is secured by a couple of 10mm bolts and is connected to the loom by means of a pull to release type connector. There is a bentley guide available for the VR6 but the standard Golf haynes guide would help with ECU replacement and many other bodywork type problems.Good luck
crackers 0
Gordon,Cheers for that! I'll go and source one online then! unless there are any here?Do you think it will make a difference with the engine being a 2.9 from a synchro? I'm guessing the part number the VW dealer quoted me is a replacement for the one thats in the car but I dont know if that is the original for that year/model as it should have a 2.8 engine in.ThanksPhil
thegoth 5
I've got VAG-COM addatched to mine it's coming back 021 906 258A and mine is a 1992 distributor engine. which makes me think VW quoted you the original/expected part no.
