alex1985blue 0
Hi All,Is it pretty straight forward, drain the oil, take the sump off, and put the new sump on with a new gasket. Is that it? is there normally anything else that people do mainteance wise, or checks that people do while the sump is off?Cheers for your helpAlex
Phat VR6 3
You can feel the big ends to see if theres any play in them, All though if they where bad enough to feel you would hear it knocking really bad! Also inspect the oil pump pick up as mine got damaged from hitting speed bumps ect.Yep just drain oil unbolt clean surfaces and rebolt. Depending on the reason for replacing sump you could be interested in a product that i have in development. Its a kit to stop you damaging dragging your sump across the floor common with low VR6s. Kit includes Shallow increased capacity steel sump, New VAG mk5 R32 oil pump with a shorter pick up and a 5mm front engine mount spacer for £250 including postage. Will increase sump to floor clearance by an extra 25mm Tom

But unfortunately I have already bought a new one and gasket from VW
