krave 0 Posted January 21, 2009 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 I have a vr6 engine that was in one of my golfs, basically it started smoking on acceleration. Then started smoking after about 30 seconds of starting the morning. There was mayo in the oil cap ( loads of) but thought this may be because of the cold, so wiped it off and five ten later its there again.I left the car and started it a few times and it would smoke heavily when revved, clouds of white smoke, it then started mising slightly and progessivley got worse untill the car sounded like air mix was all wrong ( would start, chug, not rev and die)Can be started over and over but the same thing happens.Thinking maybe part of the headgasket was leaking collent and has now got worse and blown head gasket right open?Im imagineing this to be the head gasket and am going to strip the head off tonight to see, but was wondering if it could be anything else??Sorry for forever asking ?'s just like to do the work myself and a bit of research is always good Also my rad had started smoking, but my temp still doesnt go over 90.
