Well i have almost completed my engine swap now. Putting a obd2 lump in a obd1 car (staying obd1 and not changing the complete loom)

Taking way too long due to constant stop start weather!

The last thing to do is change the 42 pin wiring plug (think thats what it is, the bit where you plug your engine electricals into the cars) and put the obd1 intake manifold on. i have taken my obd2 inlet manifold off ready for the obd1 to be put on but i have just thought that maybe i have to take the whole unit off. I can see i have to unclip all the injector electrics off and change them for my obd1 loom but wasnt sure if i needed to change the whole unit (not just the top part that people polish). i am hoping that i am doing this the right way. By right i mean just swapping the upper part of the intake manifold.

Can any one say if alternators between obd1/2 are interchangable, as i havent swapped them, they look identical and have the same clips etc just need to make sure. ;)

Sorry for so many ?'s , just really want to have my car on road tomoorow!

This might be a bit of a late answer of sorts, if it's of any use to you.

Don't know with your 2 altenators, but I put a 98 2 litre GTi motor in a 94 2 litre GTi, the only problem I had was that though the altenators were the same the car would turn over but not fire till I put the 94 altenator back on.
