james-VR6 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Report Share Posted February 24, 2008 got some quotes for a respray today for my 3dr mk3.. one guy said to me that the rear quarter panell window will need to be totally replaced after the respray,, my query is that only 1 garage said about the windows, anyone know if they do need to be replaced or not? he said the rubber around the window is part of the window, and the rubber will need to be cut to remove the window, any info or advise about this much appreciated. xyber 1 Posted February 24, 2008 Report Share Posted February 24, 2008 those windows are a pain to get out and atleast will need new rubber seals and their is a big risk of breaking them windows, but not a given, so for him to say you will need them is bollocksWhen mine was done we left the windows in and got some special tape that has a plastic edge that you slide behind the seals an pull back tight and stick to the glass, it completely pulls the seals back so a good layer of paint can get in behind, worked perfectly Link to post Share on other sites
