help with 9" wide borbet a on vr6

Recommended Posts

ok lads need some help ...ive gt a mk3 vr with the larger 288 discs on the front and had the arches rolled and on collies ...had some nothelles on it ..untill this afternoon

ive pretty much spent all day tryin to get these wheels on .........they are borbet A 5x100 and are 9" wide all round ...... on 215 45 16s

the lad i bought them off is the 2nd owner making me the third now ...the originall owner apparently had them on his vr so they came with 20mm eibach spacer as the front wheels have such a deep dish and a flat face the spacers are required to clear the calipers

i tried using these spacer but they would clear the caliper properly ...i think his vr must have had thre 280mm set with slightly smaller calipers ... so i used my own 23 mm fk spacer on the front which sorted this out and raised the front enough on the collies to help the arch be more than a 1mm off the tyre (as the poke out a lot!!! - i will get some pics up tomo) currently i can my thumb in the arches if no-one is the in the car

i used the the 20mm eibach spacer on the back not because i needed to but just to kinda of match them up to the front

all things aside i think they look great.. i want to polish up the lips a bit more and then spray the entres in the same metallic grey as the rest of the car

my biggest issue is i dont think they are legal with how much they poke out the arches ...tommorow i have to rip out the plastic arch lining as the wheel is scrapin on the inside of it when i take a corner

i want to kno if there is anyway of getting around using such big spacers on the front as i do not like the idea of spacer in the first place and they are only goin to add to my rubbing issues

I love type As, Wicked wheels. Make sure you post some pictures.

Umm As for the wheel spares I donno. Have you tryed it without them on and if so how much does it contact the caliper? Ive hurd of people grinding abit off calipers if its not that much to gain clearnce....

Rears are fine but fronts are illegal mate. So 20mm adapters make wheels catch calipers yes?

If so you're gonna have to shave some of the calipers or drop back down to 280s.

The police will have you driving around Leicester like that. I had a few interesting chats with police when I had my 9*16 Borbet T on but they could find nothing wrong.
