mombajomba 0
Howdy ya'll... it's been 8000 miles since I last posted and I've had a few months of trouble free motoring after my head rebuild.... Sadly last Sunday one of my spark plugs tried to escape and it took the thread with it. I think it's the rear left plug as you look at the engine head on.. The chap at the garage wants to take the head off to helicoil it and I'm just wondering if any of you had done a rethread with a helicoil without taking the head off?... I'm not sure I can face doing it all again
adam_christie 0
It's the only way to make sure you're not left with any swarf in the cylinder. The head's aluminium so you can't use a magnet. Unless you've got a fibre-optic camera and a surgical vacuum cleaner you can't be sure that you've got it all out.
