Overfueling

Hiya,

I got a mk3 golf vr6 2.8i, i got it about three months ago, when i got it i had a full service done as it was massivly in need of it.

We noticed when the service was done that the spark plugs were in a realy bad way as in they were black as black could get and covered in oil.

(On my way to the M.O.T centre yesterday) the car started to miss fire very badly to the point were it couldent be driven, i got it towd home and we pulled the spake plugs out and they were all pretty black again and covered in oil but one of them was completely covered and had massive amounts of soot and oil on it.

My very trusted machanic said it's overfueling but he said he could be on it all day trying to find out what it is so he adviced i come on here and see if anyone else has had this problem.

Be gratefull if anyone could get back to me and shed some light on the situation.

If it were me I think I would look into a new set of spark plugs and leads, change the plugs at the same time, worn leads can lead to this problem, they can become brittle and worn then they start to arc out causing and general roughness and enginemisfiring., I had the same sort of problem with one of my previous cars.
