I have installed a HID headlight kit from ultra in my vr6

however the lights are so bright BUT when i switch the sidelights on the HIDs flash for about 10 seconds then die !

then i put my headlights on and they are fine !!

PLease help

I have tested the voltage and i found thet when sidelights are on there is a small voltage goin to the HID s enough to make it flash but not enough to turn on !!

Any suggestions ?

wire the HID independantly from the lighting loom, use a heavier guage cable for live, direct to the battery and a heavy independant earth, then use the original loom to fit a relay so they will switch on the same, just they will have their own power, thats the only way you should really run HIDs as the initial jolt of power need to ignite them can easily overload the earth. I learnt this to my expense when I destroyed my Hella celis ring lights

VW lighting looms are notoriously crap, they take a long route and arent really beefy enough as standard
