Rear Discs

hi trying to uprade rear disc to driiled ones, have taken the caliper off but cant seem to get the caliper holder off. anyone know how it comes off???? many thanks

anyone its driving me nuts, i can see 2 bolts but dont know how to get em off look like the allen key type????

Likie you can see there are 2 usually rounded of allen head bolts. Buy 2 more before you do anything then you'll have to whack a socket over em to get em off

do you know where i acn get them from mate? how do you mean bang a socket over them ?? many thanks

You can get em from VW they are M8x21 size. And get a socket about same size as the head of the bolt and hammer it on to the bolt it will then fit tight on it so you can get it off. Thats how i've always done mine

Ive had no luck with getting the rear caliper holders off. have tried everything. looks like im gonna have to pay the local garage £75 to change em for me.

Theres no need to buy bolts from VW, the allen key fitments are a rubbish idea.

Ive used 17mm headed bolts with the same tread and lengh which should never cause a problem if you have to have them off again. If hammering a socket on doesnt work then grind the head off. Its easy to remove the thread once the carrer is off the car buy putting in vice.

You might need to remove wheel bearing nut and outer wheel bearing so you can remove the disc at the same time to gain clearnce while you remove the carrer.

Mine where longer and i cut mine down 23mm long. Make sure there aslong the old ones and become flush with the carryer so they dont make contact with the disc. I used a 2mm washer as well and abit of lock tight is always nice
