matth76 1
Two weeks ago this friday a guy backed his 4x4 into my car which was parked on the opposite side of the road opposite his driveway. Luckily he left his number on my windscreen .. guess there are some good guys out there. Anyway I had a chat with him (he's a neighbour of mine) and he seemed really genuine and totally admitted it was his fault etc. I've got a photo copy of his ins. certificate etc. The whole of my rear wheel arch on the driver side was totally caved in up to the petrol cap. It's not drivable. Thankfully it didn't go any further but it will need a whole new panel etc.. not going to be cheap so all getting done on his insurance. Anyway I was straight on the phone to my insurance company, elephant, who arranged to get everything sorted. But it had to go through their legal partner company, Albany, who deal with getting the costs from the third party insurance - not sure why but this saves me paying an excess (not that I should really because I'm not actually making a claim but apparently you do normally pay your excess even if its not your fault.) Unfortunately I will have to mention if asked that I have had an accident (not a claim though as I havent made a claim) in the last 5 years. Today the garage (all arranged through my ins co) that is repairing my car finally got a tow truck to take my car to their garage..nearly two weeks after it all happened! Since it all happened I have had a hire car which is good - again all costs coming out of the third party ins. It's a Golf "Plus" tdi. Its absolutely huge like a bus and sounds like a truck but has a small thump of turbo power for a little bit but its very weak compared to my car... definitely going to miss the power of my vr for the next month!
